“We’re proud to be a part of people’s growth.”

Marianne Archer – Director

We are committed to providing you with the training and development to help you get where you want to go within the earthmoving industry.

Whether you are starting as a trainee, or coming in at the top level, we will help you set up your goals with an individual training plan. Our in-house Plant Trainers are there to help you reach your potential, and develop your knowledge and skill level.

Trainees will generally start on a dump truck, learning the ropes of the rollers, hydremas and larger dump trucks, before choosing a direction of machinery they want to specialise in. Whether you are looking towards diggers, dozers or even motorscrapers, we have the fleet and the systems in place to help you achieve your goals.

National Certificates are available for keen and dedicated members of the crew. Goodmans work closely with Connexis to constantly have team members working towards a nationally recognised qualification. This includes:

  • National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Trades – Bulk Earthmoving.
  • National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Trades – Supervision
  • National Certificate in Civil Infrastructure Trades – Pipe Installations
  • National Certificate in Infrastructure Works – Contract Management
  • Other qualifications are available including moving towards becoming Civil Trades Certified.

Working on an Apprenticeship is a big commitment, for both our apprentices and our leadership team. We have dedicated members of staff who work closely with all of our apprentices to help and encourage them with training plans to make sure all their bookwork is up to date, alongside dedicating time through the day to make this happen. We work closely with MITO and Competenz to ensure our Apprentices have the tools to succeed. Our Supervisors are there to pass on their knowledge and are encouraging and easy to approach. We currently have apprentices working towards:

  • Heavy Plant and Equipment Level 3 & 4
  • Light Vehicle Level 3 & 4
  • Mechanical Engineering

 Additional Training

Alongside this, we also have all our crew participate in other courses such as First Aid Training, Construct Safe, Traffic Control and more. When it comes to training, there are GOOD options at Goodmans.
